The Inbound calls on this setup are are not recognized by the trunk card right away... It may be 3 ring cycles befor the card recognizes. Somtimes it recognizes imediatly.

I noticed that the ring cycle from the 8700 analog is 2 short ring bust. Is there a setting on my end that I can make to have this work?

I have a post in teh Avaya forum to see if I can get the Analog ring changed from 2 short rings to a normal ring.... no one is responding to that either....
Surely there has to be a way for this to work....

Assume the ring pattern of the analog phone which terminates on the loop start trunk is "short on", "short off", "short on", "longer off". You want the RGV (Ring Validation) timer in the RDB to be set slightly shorter than the "short on" time and the NRD (No Ring Detection) timer to be set slightly longer than the "longer off" time.

Currently
RGV is set to 640
GRD is set to 896

The incoming call needs to have ringing voltage applied for at least the RGV timer in order to be recognized as a valid incoming call. If you have RGV set for 640 milliseconds and the "short on" time is less than 640 milliseconds, then the call will not be recognized.

gwebster - that was an outstanding explanation of those TIMR values.

..and NRD is what is used to determine that the incoming call has stopped before it is answered. That is why it needs to be set slightly longer than the longest "off" cycle.

Thank you for the information everyone.

It tuns out that the Avaya guy could turn off "Distinctive Audible Alert" on the analog station and resolved the issue.

All inbound call to my trunk now have a norrmal ring pattern and the Trunk card recognizes right away.
