I have many time used the large 48 Port Avaya switch with no problems I run it so that the DHCP is dictated by the control unit.

I have a small installation so I picked up one of these 24 Port units

Aaya 3526t-pwr+ 10/100 poe+ 24-port managed switch al3500a11-e6 ers3526t-pwr+

But I'm having unusual problems such as not all of the handsets are able to log on they are stuck in Discovery but some of them do come online. Has anyone had any issues with the smaller switches and also is this the correct Poe switch to use?

Thanks

Its a fine switch but been ages since I have done anything on them. Have you defaulted it to remove previous programming?

Can you access the switch?

Bear in mind these were end of live with Avaya some. time ago.

The networking business was acquired by Extreme Networks who have newer models, but I am sure you need a contract to access any upgrades.

While it should work, there's no telling what config it may have in it. If you have a Cisco style console cable, you should be able to access the serial port (9600-8-N-1) and see what the port config is, unless someone put a console port password on it. It would be pretty easy to switch port vlan membership, or as mentioned previously, default the config which would put all ports in VLAN 1, then you could set a management IP address. Be warned - if it has old firmware, managing the switch is going to be about worthless with modern web browsers, but CLI is pretty straightforward.

I installed countless Nortel/Avaya flavored switches in the past, but haven't touched one in at least 5 years.

Thanks. I've used Putty before on the IPO. I'll access the Console port and see if I can default it.

Do these units have a RESET button to default?

By the way does anybody know why the IPO control unit does not have fiber ports?

Why would the 500v2/2a need fiber ports? It doesn't even have GB NICs.
