Avaya 1608 phone issue with Microsoft Surface Pro 2

• Microsoft Surface Pro 2 issue – when connected via Ethernet (docking station or USB adapter) to an Avaya 1608 IP phone’s second/auxiliary pass-through Ethernet port, the connection drops sporadically, and only a reboot of the phone resolves the issue (temporarily).

How do i resolve this issue?

The 16XX phones are known to have poor switches build in, that is inherent to the price of the phones.
Best is to replace them for 96xx phones, next best thing ( if not already done ) is to load the latest software on them ( 1.3SP4 ), last option, don't use the switch at all.

Actually, 1.3.6 is the latest firmware. They just released an update today.
