Hey all,

I just took out around 45 tapes and replaced them with new media. Inventoried the robot and all seemed well. I have one question though...

On the available_media script, it shows the new tapes as being available, but it also continues to show the old media that I had just taken out. The old media has "NONE" listed as robot type, "-" listed as robot #, and "AVAILABLE" listed under status. Why does it list this media as available when they aren't even in the robot? Am I missing a step?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

"Available" doesn't mean that they 're in the robot.
You must only understand that, if they were in the robot,
they could be used for backup.

It's probably because there isn't any active image on those
tapes.

"NONE" appears under the "robot type" column of the available_media report. It means that the media listed in that record (row) is not in the robot. I use DLT tapes and when a media is in the robot, "TLD" appears in this column to indicate the tape is in the robot. The abbreviation you find for tapes in the robot may be different.

The word "AVAILABLE" appears in the "status" column of the available_media report and indicates that all of the images on the media have expired. In media manager, you'll find that the "time assigned" field is blank for media that are available.

I hope this helps.
