yesterday we received a message from a company saying the last email you sent us had a Virus in it (bugbear). This was an automated one and we got a couple of them. What was funny was that the email it apparently received was sent by a user that doesnt exist, and from a domain we do own but do not use for email.
Anyhow, not too worried about it because we were pretty tight on AV.
This morning I got a phonecall from a guy who says "I don't know how to tell you this, but you've got a virus". Starts off like that and then he mentions the user (yeah you guessed it the one mentioned in the mail yesterday) before saying "It's quite Ironic since we are an AV company". Oh good, imagine how fortunate we are.
Needless to say the guy tries to act all helpfull by enquiring exactly how many machines and users we have, Server type, AV soloution if any.
After saying my piece I hung up.
I just wondered if anyone else has been targeted with such tactics, reminds me of the domain registering scam.
