I need help setting up aux ring when a specific extension is dialed. This feature was set up at one point in my plant but was disabled. I have an amplifier that plays music, external pages, and lunch bells over the PA. The amplifier also has a phone port that is labeled night ring. It appears as if all of the physical connections are still in place (I traced the line from the night ring port on the amp back to the patchboard). We currently use AA and a CCR tree. When we used nite ring before, the receptionist would turn on night service mode before she left. If I turn it on now, it doesn't change anything. Anybody have any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this? Is there any quick way to verify that my aux ringer is functional?

Thanks
Brandon

From the back of the patch board, it looks like it goes to the nortel cabinet/box that is labeled VoiceMail. This cabinet has a 3.5 inch floppy drive in it.

That sounds like your problem.
Not sure where that is connecting, but there are no relays on the NAM that I've ever seen.

The Aux Ringer relay is on the Yellow/Brown pair on the 2nd cable from the KSU.

You can configure lines or sets to activate the Aux Ringer.

So then, if I go into the **SET menu, and set up a particular set to AUX Ring = Y, that should do it? Does that set need to have a certain amount of rings before going to aux ringer?

No, aux ringer sends a closed relay on the first ring. Short it with your screwdriver and the aux. ringer should sound, if not bad aux. ringer or amp.

Ok I might be getting somewhere... The aux ring IS on the yellow/brown wire on the 2nd cable of the KSU. The KSU clicks as the ext that has aux ring configured rings. When I short out the wires, nothing happens. If I short out the external page wires, I get a tone. The two wires for aux ring go into the night ring port of my Bogen UTI312 Zone Controller with Universal Telephone Interface. Any connections I might be missing?

It appears the Aux. Ring device on Bogen is defective.
