Setup:
Commvault 6.1 SP4 with all patches (Win2k3)

I have a storage policy that has a primary copy to tape and a secondary offsite copy to tape.

I received a request to start offsiting four new clients. These clients were part of a different SP but with the same retention as the offsite copies SP. This may not have been the best way to do this, but I simply moved the clients to the offsite SP thinking they would be nicely lumped in and go offsite. Now I am getting this error each morning:

Job ID: 363039
Status: Failed
SP Name: BW-ALMS1-Windows-30day -CV2
Copy Name: All Copies
Start Time: Mon Dec 17 01:00:06 2007
Scheduled Time: Mon Dec 17 01:00:00 2007
End Time: Mon Dec 17 01:00:07 2007
Failure Reason: No secondary copy exists for the storage policy.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rick

I should say "Aux Copy Fails" rather.....

The new clients need to be assigned to the Primary copy of the SP.

An aux copy is just a secondary copy of the primary copy of the SP.

Thanks..

I am a newbie but I went to the SP where the clients I needed to move were associated, chose to re-associate and successfully moved them to the SP that contains the offsite copy.

Is that right? If I click the actual "primary" copy the associations tab cannot be selected.

If I go to properties of the SP itself i do see the correct clients listed....

Thanks

so the clients are now assigned to the correct SP?

double check by looking at the properties of the backup job

You will then be sorted
