hi.

for my primary key, i set the id field to autonumber. everything was fine except a couple of days ago, i noticed that the id number went from 15 to 23. what caused this skip in number? i thought that the autonumber insured that there would be no skips. thanks for your help.

autonumber maintains its count no matter what. It appears that those records were deleted. It does not adjust for deleted records

Also, if you just start to create a record, the auto number will increment. By just clicking on the 'New Record' button on the record navigation, it will increment your autonumber.

The AutoNumber was not designed to "count" records, but rather to ensure uniqueness...I hope this clears it up.
