hi , is there a way that i can add letter infront of autnumber field. I mean instead of , 1, 2, and 3, I am looking for T1, T2, T3.

can someone help me please.

Thanks

see faq700-184. A bit beyond your stated needs, but a way to do it. A more traditional approach would be to just pre-pend the letter for 'display'.

If you just want a new identifier and the identifier is consistent (such as "T"....not "T" or "R" or "J"), then a Query would be very simple.

Create a simple query from the table where the ID resides. On the query design, create a new field with:

="T"&[ID]. The result will be T38, T39, etc. You can rename the new field.

In the table design you can add \T00000 in the format.
The result will be
T00001
T00002
T00003
T00004
T00005
T00006
you can increase or decrease number of zeros as per your requirement.
