I'm putting together an e-mailing list in ACT!. What I've done is added a column to the DB which indicates whether or not the contact should be on the list (for opt-in or opt-out purposes), which I am going to extract as the mailing group.

My question is this: is there a quick way to set up the database so that if there is an entry in the email address column, the mailing list column automatically sets to true (or whatever). the database is fairly large, and my only other option is to go down the DB in list view and set each individually, which is LAME.

Thanks for the help

Why not do a lookup for all non-empty email fields.
Then set the desired field attribute for the entire lookup with by using Edit > Replace.

I hope this works for you.
