I have a payroll report that runs automatically however, one of the fields on the report needs to change when the report is ready to execute again for each person. How can I get that field to change to the next value for the next period automatically? Is there a formula I need to create in the report or in enterprise after the reports runs to ahve it change the value of the field?

A field to change to the next value for the next period...

I guess that means something to you, but it's pretty vague.

All fields have all of their values unless otherwise filtered.

Are you trying to say that you'd like a report to increase some parameter or filtering value automatically?

If so, post examples of the data, and what you foresee happening, and for what period...

Thanks for the clarification on the terminology, however, the field has the following text data:

1/1-06 - 1/14-06
1/15-06 - 1/31-06
2/1-06 - 2/14/06
2/15-06 - 2/28/06

I need it to change the parameter automatically after the batch has been executed.

Set the parameter to 01/01/1980 as default value and in your report do calculation that if it is default parameter value 01/01/1980; write the logic to pick 1/1-06 - 1/14-06 etc dates respectively.

agreen10,

Did you ever implement the solution to this? I have a similar need and am wondering how you handled it.

Thanks!

I am still trying to figure it out. Do you have any suggestions.

Agreen10,

Could you use the run date of the report to look up the appropriate payroll begin and end dates in a reference table?

We have a similar requirement. Many of our reports will run on the first of the month. The begin and end date filter for the report will be the first and last date of the prior month. So, we're going to have some logic in the report that takes run date - 1 month to get the filter month. Then we'll set the start and end date to the first and last day of that month. Does that make sense?
