Iam trying to Backup my Oracle database (8i) everyday night after 7pm. I should be able to backup when the database is running. What do i need to do to automate the whole preocess ?...Can i do this thru OEM ?...Which is the easiest way to do it....

I know i can do it thru EXPORT utility and Thru HOT BACKUP.

But how do i automate this process ?

thanns for any help ...

I think that OEM says that it can do this, but have never used it.

We use a script to perform hot back-ups 6 nights of the week, and a different script to do a cold back-up once a week.

If your databases are on a UNIX server, you can go to lazydba.com and look around for hot/cold backup scripts to get you going in the right direction. It is important that you understand the process of hot and cold back-ups so you will be able to edit the scripts for your own environment.

If your stuck in that other world, - I don't know how to use it, but I know that there is a scripting tool for Microsoft environments. It's the same process to the database.

Hope that helps,
Maxx
