Hi,

I am using Upfront for publishing reports. But some of the users are not having access to it and I want to send the report (which is scheduled with frequency Daily) to some email recipients.

Is there any way I can do this automatically by setting some parameters for the report in upfront.

Thanks in advance,
Amit

Amit,
How are you scheduling your report to run?
If you run it via a macro, you could also send it to users via email as an excel/pdf/html attachment.
Rather than post code here, do a keyword search with email and impromptu and check prior threads.

Sending a link to a newsitem in Upfront will prompt you for a login. You will need to set up a guest account that will allow them to access the reports.

Hi Lex and Flex,

I am using Cognos enterprize server and scheduling is one of the featrues provided with this version. It is not possible for me to run the report with Impromptu.
Also, I checked previous postings with email option, but could not find an approapriate answer.

Do you have any clue if emeil option can be set with enterprize server version?

Flex,
It is not possible to provide the access to these users as they are in different domain and all the security issues come up with providing access. If you know any other solution, please do suggest.

Thanks,
Amit

Amit,
The idea of using Scheduler and a macro is to activate PP and open a report, save the report in a suitable format and email it on to the relevant recipients. The macro can also change dimensions/levels to suit individual users. See the help file when opening CognosScript (the macro-writing/running application) and the sample scripts in the cer3 or cer2/ samples folder created during installation.
I have both PPES and PP Client, but I believe (and Flex can correct me if I'm wrong) that the macro can work with either.
Dave Griffin has written an excellent FAQ on macros in this forum, so I'd recommend that as a next step.

(Apologies for confusing you with mention of impromptu, but I had remembered threads requiring impromptu reports being sent in email, and hence the need for such in a forum search.)

OLE automation was dropped from Enterprise server back in version 6.61, and all that remains is the ppadmtool. If you need to schedule and email reports, then running a macro to create a pdf and then sending it out via Outlook, is a feasible solution.
If you have NoticeCast, it is possible to set up an agent that will go out and run the report based on a set schedule, which in turn can attach a pdf and/or the link to the report in an email.

hope it helps.

Thanks again.

My question is more related to the reports created using Impromptu, but Impromptu is used only for development and can't be used after publish of reports for providing data to users.

From your replies it seems to me that with EP Series 7 it is not possible to "schedule reports and send them as attachments in email from Upfront".

Thanks again for the help.
