This may be overly-simplistic, but have you verified that the "do not mount store at startup" checkbox is cleared? (Store properties page, database tab)
I recently wasted about an hour troubleshooting this only to discover that during a database recovery a few months earlier I had completely forgotten to change this after the restore was complete.
Yep tried that first, but we do have Several of these
and not sure how to fix, i did check microsoft, what do u think ??
Event ID 9175
The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error:
The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed.
The MAPI provider failed.
Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store

If the database starts up normally during a manual mount but doesn't during system startup, then the "do not mount at startup" checkbox is likely the cause. You're sure the checkbox is NOT checked correct? It should only be checked if you're in the process of a database restore.
I suppose antivirus software or other startup processes may also be somehow locking the database files, although that should generate other errors in addition to the ones above. Make sure that at the very least the mdbdata folder(s) are excluded from any scans. Note that there may be more than one depending on your configuration, especially if you have separate database and transaction volumes.
thanks i read that one also, i doublechecked
and also made sure mcafee netshield was not on access scanning any db files.
the only thing i was told was that our consultant had to recreate the store and they didnt know which 'system mailbox' to delete and i assume deleted the one that had the SID we needed, so now we do have a system mailbox w/ the red X and disabled but apparently something is locked.
There was a groupshield issue also, not having admin rights to open the IS for recieve/send permissions, so we uninstalled it.
Thanks Gkes
i appreciate your time and info.
