Automatically Incrementing an alphanumeric number in a field

I would like to have a field that automatically increments an alpha-numeric number in a field.

My table name is tblquest and the field that I want to auto increment is Region Code.
The sequence starts as SQ0001.

This is probably simple for somebody, but I can't find any documentation on autonumbering when using a alpha-numeric number.

You can't use an alphnumeric in autonumber.

I use a DMax function in the On Click event of the Add Record button to find the last used number. I then increment it by one and assign it to the the record number of the newly added record.
