Hi

Is there any command line utility that can be used in a script which will automatically empty the recycle bin on a windows 2000 sp3 /sp4 pc?

Right-click the recycle bin and select automatic empty or
do not send items to recycle bin - delete automatically.
I don't recommend it - you might find that you need the item and have lost it permanently. The recycle bin allows you to recover something that you inadvertantly deleted - that's its purpose. I've done that once or twice, and it's saved my bacon.

I can't find those options when I right click on the recycle bin. I am using W2k and they don't exist.

Also this is for an automated unattended build that I am creating and needs to be scriptable.

Regards

That doesn't seem to work on my windows 2000 pc, is it called something else on W2k pro?

I did a search on my hard drive for anything called "Recycle" and I found 4 files.

Recycle.chm
Recycle.wav
Utopia Recycle.wav
recycle.htt

None of which seemed to be the ones I had to delete.

Please help

Regards

Jat

Set Folder Options, View, to see protected system files, and to allow you to see Hidden files and folders.

Ok now I get the message "could not find c:\recycler\*".

Through the CMD prompt I can CD to C:\RECYCLER> and then try to do a "del *.*" from within the directory but it can't seem to see the stuff that is in the my recycle bin.

What am I doing wrong.

By the way I have unticked the "Hide protected operating system files "
