I have recently upgraded my phone system to IPO 3.2(17), and I'm looking for a way for some of my fax machines to dial 9 automatically. I have read the Avaya Maintenance Manual on this topic, but it is for version 3.1 and the systems do not seem to work the same. If anyone can give me some advise I would appreciate it.

Short Code: ?
Telephone Number: .
Line Group ID: 0 (analog trunk/line)
Feature: Dial

Is that the Short code you are using?

I think I remember hearing some people having a problem getting this to work on 3.2.

That is the short code that I am using, but it still requires me to enter a 9 to get an outside line. Also, I need to dial a 1 before any area code, I have that programed into the switch for all voice calls so the users do not need to worry about it, but I don't know how it will affect the faxes.

You could use a User Short Code for the fax extension. Something like:

Short Code: N;
Telephone Number: N
Line Group ID: 0 (analog trunk/line)
Feature: Dial

This would send anything that was dialed from the fax line out over the PRI but would only apply to the fax line since it is a User Short Code. You would have to dial the 1 for long distance calls.

You could probably come up with a series of short codes to insert the 1 for long distance, but I would just tell them to dial the 1 on the fax line.

Create a User Short Code as follows

S/C ?D
T/N 9
Feat Dial

This is how to set up a Hot Line as you want. It will automatically dial 9 for you. You cna use this if you want a phone to automatically ring someone when going off hook eg lift phone rings reception, door phone rings reception etc - just replace the 9 with whatever you want to dial (internal need the feature as DialExtn though).

I found a code that works.

S/C N;
T/N 9N
Feat Dial
Line Group ID 0

Thanks you everyone for your help.
