It seems that messages left in users mailboxes too long are forwarded to the General Delivery mailbox on our flash system. I talked to a guy who knows the system better than i do, and says there should be a setting that forwards messages left in the mailbox too long to be sent to general delivery so they get heard, but neither he nor i can find this setting. Has anyone heard of this / know how to change this or turn it off?

thanks

It sounds as if your whole voice mail system is overloaded? What have you got and do the users keep their messages forever?

I was under the impression that if you had a full mailbox you simply couldn't leave a message. Is there a way to tell how full the flash system is? I don't think the users keep their messages for that long, but i can't be sure.

When i hit feature 983 and hit 9 to get the software version it says 'N* Flash 2.0.10' I do know we don't have the light version of the voicemail.

specialj,
I think Arr is probably correct on this. individual mailboxes when full overflow to the general delivery mailbox.(the GD mailbox does not have a limit on it for receiving messages or age of messages, I got some on one customer from 3 years ago) individual mailboxes only have from 5 to 20 minutes of message time so if you have someone who is getting a lot of messages they could easily be maxing their mailbox out.

Make sure the customer is deleting old messages and if you need to max out the time available for a particular mailbox COS 7 allows 20 minutes of message time (2 mins per message max)

Note: COS 3 allows indefinate message retention. (this probably will not help but thought you would want to know)

is there a time limit to how long a message can be in a mailbox for a personal mailbox? I had a message end up in general delivery, and i know my voice mail wasn't full, but it could have gone in there for being in my voice mail too long.

If your class of service is '1' 30 days is your message retention period. As JR states above, if you need longer move COS to 3. This won't solve your problem though. Message time will still be 15 minutes. Your users need to clear their mailboxes. If it were my problem I'ld just shrug my shoulders and tell the user they were SOL and to get on dealing with their own messages. Doubly important because your Flash voice mail only has 90 minutes of overall storage.

What happens to a message at the end of it's message retention period? If the message is unheard is it treated different than if it's been saved?
