I need to set up a report on a big screen in the office that shows a Gauge and a set of traffic lights that updates every 5 minutes. It is the trendy thing for offices that have bonus targets to see how well they are doing towards their weekly targets via a big screen.

I can set up the report in SSRS 2008 and I can display it via the standard Report viewer website installed with SSRS. I can of course set it to refresh the data to a schedule behind the rendered report. I have not been able to find away to refresh the displayed/rendered report on the screen in report viewer without somebody going up to it and hitting the refresh button.

I can get round this by sticking something on the machine to simulate 'F5' to a a timed schedule or I can write a VB.Net program to display a report viewer and refresh it every 5 minutes using a timer control.

I wondered if anybody knew of a way to do it without fiddling about like this. Is there an option in SSRS to create a report that can automatically re-render on the report viewer to a schedule?

Dazed and confused.

Not sure if this is what you want, but I have a report that refreshes every 60 seconds updating users on which runs are live across many production lines

In the properties of the design view for the report, there is an option for auto refresh.

I was under the impression this property refreshed the data but id not re-display the report on a screen.
Which version of SSRS are you using and does in re-display the entire report with a user pressing 'refresh'?

I use 2005 at present.
I run the report in a web page using the link name>/reportserver/ < navigate to the rest of the links

This way the report controls are excluded from the display

With Controls Link Doesn't refresh
Without Controls Link Refreshes

I am no expert at this, just picked stuff up as I go along.
I should learn how to upload pictures instead of links :)
