I don't think this is possible but you all are pretty smart so maybe you have an idea! I have an IP500V2 with embedded VM and overhead paging. The customer want to be able to autmatically send out over the paging system when their is a shift change. I thought about recording a MOH wav file and make it play but that doesn't work. Would it be possible if they had VMPRO? any ideas?

What do they want to send over the paging system - when there is a shift change (a ring, a tone, an announcement)? How is paging set-up now (via a line trunk or a single-line phone ext port)?

Not possible even with VM Pro, it can't be totally automated. Not at all with embedded :)

I think just just want a tone and it is on an analog extension port. I really didn't think it was possible but I thought I would ask. Thanks for the help!

If it is on an analog phone port - maybe a scheduled "alarm" call via VM Pro would at least ring the phone port at the scheduled time - and the ringing should be heard over the paging system. Just don't if the alarm can be set to ring every day automatically - and you would have to clear it - or it would ring back (as I vaguely recall).

Thanks for the help. I just needed the answer, I had tried several things with no success.

amriddle01 - in R6 VM Pro (he did mention he may go that way (i.e., get VM Pro) - you can set a daily (repeated) alarm - and specify the specifics - how many rings, whether it would retry, etc. - wouldn't that work - if he sent the alarm to the paging single-line extension port?? It may do exactly what he needs - if a ring is all he needs to hear at a specified time, every day.

I reckon use the relay ports to to turn on a tone generator.

next task - how to use a time profile to trigger that short code to pulse the relay via a virtual user...

mmmmm

Good point, I knew that but I was thinking it wouldn't do it at several different times a day (for the different shifts) only once a day, but you could create one alarm for each shift and have them all ring the same extn :)

True! - so if he can R6 VM Pro - it's worth a shot. I don't believe the R5 version of VM Pro was as flexible on "alarm set".

Or for $100 +/- you can buy a tone generator and an Altronix timer that will work every time. There is beauty in simplicity...

mforence you have an excellent point!! and - he would save an upgrade to R6 - never mind the big bucks for VM Pro!
