I'm editing a job that has lines of type with a highlight that automatically appears behind the text as a design element.

I need to duplicate that on other pages.

How is it done?

Before anyone suggests these...

No, it's not a strike-through or adjusted underscore.

No, it's not created with paragraph rules.

No, it's not a colored box set behind the text line. (That's what I have done in the past with this file to create a work-around).

I'm stumped.

It could also be any other of the composition errors (substituted fonts, as mentioned above, subs. glyphs, H&J Violations, etc.)...

If it's not built as a character style, and not one of the above mentioned comp errors, then it might have been achieved via a script or plugin...but it would probably still show in the char/para palettes.

Thank you for the response.

Yes, the highlight is pink. But it's a Wedding Guide. It's supposed to be pink.

It is not a font problem or error of any kind. It is intentional. The font is used in several places without the highlight.

This file was created here before my time and I have no way of contacting the originator. How can I tell if it is a script or plugin?

I looked under Window> Automation> Scripts (and Script Label)
Nothing.

Perplexed? Why, yes I am. Thanks for asking.

Does the background expand/resize as more letters are typed or is the background shape constant?

jimoblak,

Yes it expands horizontally and if I hit return, it flows into the next line.

So it IS a paragraph rule...did you check to see that both Rule Above and Rule Below were checked or not?

Ekwoman,

I really wish you were right. But the paragraph rule check box is NOT selected when the text line is highlighted.

I am going to give this suggestion a try on the text line that I need to add the highlight to however. I'll let you know.

Can you send me the file? Sometimes what trips people up is that there is a Rule Above with a check box, then a Rule Below with a check box and one or the other gets missed.

Let me know if I can help out with the mystery...

Ekwoman,

I'm fairly new to the forum. How do I send you an attachment?

Ekwoman,

DUH!!!!

Rule above wasn't selected, but rule below was!

I'm an idiot!!! I use rule below more often than rule above.

You're my new best friend!!!

Thank you!

:-D
