Should I be alarmed that the icon for the Automatic Updates won't disappear from my system tray (and it stays at 0% downloading)? Is there something fishy going on?

Thanks in advance

I suspect it to be a virus/spyware because I each time I try to end the process via Task Manager, it disappears from the Taskbar and then re-appears (I can't right click on it and delete it that way). I also found a file with the same filename (wuauclt.exe but it had other stuff attached to it) in another place other then C:\Windows\System332 and C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386. I've run Adware SE and Spysweeper but it won't go away.

Have you set any option to "pause" the download?

On my current machine wuauclt.exe appears in two locations, in System32 and the Service Pack files only.

You say "I also found a file with the same filename (wuauclt.exe but it had other stuff attached to it)", what other stuff and where is is this location?

Have you tried a manual visit to Windows Updates just to see what happens?

I had same issue until I disabled automatic update and re-enabled it.
