Have customer with 12 centrex lines. I'm looking for some type of unit to automatically dial the required digit to make an outside call immediately after going off hook. The telephone system cant be programmed to do this, and the people using it cant get used to dialing the "9" before making a call.

I guess my point is to try to do what they ask rather than telling them its ridculas to not want to dial 9

and suggesting they learn to use the phone.

if I can provide a solution and they are willing to pay why would I tell them to learn to dial nine when I can make a few dollars and make them happy at the same time

win win

evan if they dont want to spend the money , offering a soultion to their problem rather then telling them to learn to dial nine is really what we are here for .

no ?

Question:

If they are not using the intraCentrex intercom feature, are they using other Centrex features.

Maybe, just maybe, they don't even need Centrex (myabe the Telco salesman sold them this fo rno good reason). If that is the case, you *may* be able to save them money on monthly recurring charges by switching them over to regular busienss lines (it all depends on local tarrifs, of course).

If you can save them money on MRCs AND fix this dial 9 complaint, you'll be a hero.

This get's back to Srmega41's point. Sometime the answer is non-obvious.

i often avoid making changes to my switch that will lead to added maint or down time. if the customer is always right, then they may need to study software and routing. i don't let dept heads have all pbx phone exactly alike.. lots of request for a square system.. same 6 did lines on all 12 phones.. which means i can't get a trouble report on a single phone. so i get to tone a phone half a mile to the tn, which means i can't get any of my moves or troubles done.. i often feel that sometimes the customer needs advice when making demands.. my site has 7000 phones plus several remote pbx's, one with 2000 sets.. my 1st job is keeping the switch up... if i didn't know more about that then the average user, the customer would be looking else where.. btw you can have all the diffucult customers with 12 centrex lines, do your best and lose money and they still change companies

vendor it has happened a lot to me.

Two items to try,
Can the telco do this for you? Some can, but some may be using the centrex features.

The other thing which is time consuming, try programming a speed dial button, that dials a phone system line or pool access code to access a line, then dials a 9.

intercom, pool group access code, comma or pause, 9

then the caller finishes the dialing manually.

Not all phone systems can do this.
