Automated Merge Access 2003 with Word 2003 Normal.dot changes

Using faq705-3237 I was able to get my automation to work merging an Access 2003 to Word 2003. However the routine saves the updated document and when you attempt to close down the Word App, you get an error "this file is in use by another application or user". After going through the cancel and close along with X out the App, you finally get an error the the Normal.dot has had changes made to it DO you want to save the changes?" No matter if you pick Y/N you keep going in a loop until eventually you can exit the App. Any ideas how to get around this error?

I wonder if it could have anything to do with more than one instance of Word being open when the automation was launched?

There's another faq for mailmerge, which also avoids the extra instance of Access which is a problem sometimes faq181-5088.
