any one know how i can write the script with password to automate login to the domain using winxp home
so the mapped drive works rather than having to click on the drive and have it asked for user name and password

thx

Hi,

Windows XP Home was not designed to connect to domains or Active Directory schemas. I know it can be done with a few registry hacks, but my advice if you are doing this on a regular basis is to upgrade to XP Professional.

thank you bcastner,

that's what i am looking for, but like to do it manually thru Net command batch file, but i will figure out using that method

Hi,

I too am unimpressed by the limitations of XP Toy, but I think what you want is simple enough.

In your folder -

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

create a text file (use right click) called (for example) ConnectY.bat

Containing the command -

Code:
net use y: \\server\folder password

Substitute your own drive letter, server, folder and password, but it's as simple as that!

Next time you start your pc, the start folder runs its contents, and hey presto! The drive is there!

That's what exactly the command line i am looking for where the password is placed
thank you so much Parkit
