Automated back up options

I have been asked to prepare a back up strategy for a small company, however they have a few constraints. They are on one site and have a server running XP Prof. They have approx 25 gig of data.

Currently they are using an incremental online back up service in conjuction with copying the data to another machine and occasionally writing it to DVD.

They don't want to use tapes as they want something automatic, they feel people won't swap the tapes due to forgetting, being off sick etc.

I don't like the online backup as they could be uploading a virus or corrupt data.

Ideally is their backup software that can be scheduled to copy snap shots of the data a cross a network and save them to different files?

Whatever it will need to be taken off line and off site to protect, maybe tape or removable hard drives.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

For customers that do not have the time to handle the backups, and need to take several incremental snapshots of their data I would recommend Relative Rev Backup (

http://www.datamills.com).

You may use an external USB 2.0 hard disk (sub $150 for a 40GB) to holds the backups. To increase the backup reliability you may have at least two HDD which the customer may rotate each day/several days or so.

This way you will have at least two backup media, which one of them (the non-active) you can hold offsite, and on each media you can set it up to hold multiple versions of you backups.

Relative Rev Backup Pro can be set up to hold several snapshots on the same HDD and to automatically get read of the older snapshots in several rotation schemes. This way you get a reliable, multi version snapshots, low maintenances backup solution.
