My automated attendant is down Calls ring directly to operator... (No voice Prompt)..Any Ideas???

What type of auto-attendant?? If Norstar- Power down V-mail unit. Open door and look at visual indications that power is on and system is booting up. Try to login to vmail by using Feature 983- If invalid after 10 minutes. Call Tech Support.. What type of auto attendant are you using?? Is it attached to an Opt-11 or larger PBX? Chris W

Do you have Meridian Mail? If so, try this one:

NOTE: to navigate through Meridian Mail you will use your f6-f9 keys to select choices you'll see at the bottom of the screen, you may make numeric selections and use enter, also you will use up and down arrows to browse lists in tables, finally selecting items from a list by using the space bar.

1)Go into Meridian Mail and select Voice Administration

2)Select Voice Service DN table

3)Build a VSDN the same as your LDN as defined in LD 15 LDN_DATA (Goto LD 21, REQ: prt, TYPE:LDN - look for LDN0) - write this down for later too.

4)Enter MS as the type of service you are building (MS means Menu Service.)

5)Name it Auto Attendant (its for your own good!)

6)Save this.

Part two - You are getting closer.

7)Exit this screen you should see your new VSDN listed.

8)Note the Entry labelled PM (Prompt Maintenance- write down this number- you will need it later to record your new auto attendant.)

9)Exit to previous screen now making selection for Menu Service Definitions.

10)Once here you will build the actual menu callers will be accessing to go into your system.

11)Assign this menu service the same number you assigned when you built the VSDN in the VSDN table.

12)(NOTE: 2 items will come up asking you to assign a password -- enter a password only on the line at the right of screen- I forget the titles, but do not use the one on the left.) Be sure to enter a simple password here i.e. 1234.

13)Now you need to tell the system what choices you would like to present callers who will reach this menu. Simplicity is good to start, so I recommend choosing CL for call; when a caller presses the number you are programming for (1 thru 9), they will be sent (the system will "call")to the DN you will enter next to it. Be sure to enter something in the comments so you know where each button press will take a caller.

14)Be sure to simply enter RP for any number selections you do not have defined for a caller. This will repeat the menu choices (using the message you will record for them to hear). Be sure ALL undefined choices are addressed. I would use RP for the revert choice and initial no response choice.

15)Save and exit. You are done in Meridian Mail, Now off to your Switch!!!

Part three - Almost there!

16)Change your LDN in Ld 15 LDN_DATA to a free number of the same qty of digits. (LD 15, REQ:chg, TYPE: LDN, change LDN0) (You can go to LD 20 and REQ:prt, TYPE:LUDN; to find free numbers - at DN, you can enter just a part of a dn you would like the range of to get a smaller picture of what's available.

17)Build a new ACD queue in LD 23(REQ:new, TYPE:ACD) - (using the "original" LDN as the new ACDN) w/ MAXP=1 & NCFW to your Voice Mail DN. Return out.

18)Goto LD 43, type "EDD" at the . This is a Data Dump (back up of your work)

Last part - Wow, huh!!

19)Now goto a digital set (for best sound quality) and call the PM (Prompt Maintenance) number you should've recorded from Meridian Mail.

20)When you hear "Prompt Maintenance, Voice Service ID." Enter the VSDN you used in Mer Mail, Then at "Password" enter the 1234 you assigned in Mail. Follow the prompts, record your front end message telling callers their menu options as per your programming, and you now have your own Auto Attendant!!! No more expensive 3rd party crap.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You're DONE!!!!
