Our IT setup for 100 or so users requires them to all hot-desk around on PC's. A lot of my time is therefore spent on visiting user's desks to change their proxy settings to allow them to be able to access work related websites. MMC doesn't appear to be succesfully chnaging their settings when they logon to a different pc.

Is there any sort of automated tool available such as a batch file which I could edit with our HTTP/Secure/FTP proxy addresses and port numbers? I could then email the file to users and they could double-click on to automatically change their settings?

Thanks
Johnnie

If you are running an Actice Directory domain you can set the proxy server address/'s via group policy.

"User Configuration\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer Maintenance\Connection\Proxy Settings"

This applet will give you all the options you get under the proxy settings in you browser and apply them to the particular site/domain/OU you apply it to as your users logon.

Hope this helps

cheers,

Bretto
