Anyone have freeware or $$$ware that can be used to automate backups and flashing of an enterprise full of 450/24T switches and PP8000 chassis. Thanks

No but I have some cautions:
version 4.x (current is 4.2.0.22 I think) is much slower in telnet and Java Device Manager than version 3.x

Upgrading will cause two reboots, when a 450 reboots it tends to do odd thinks with the tagging on port 5, check your port 5's for discard untagged frames, usually you want it unchecked. Some switches in a stack may reboot correctly while others fail to.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Optivity Switch Manager 3.0 was released by Nortel in May and seems to do both automated upgrade, one switch after another, and capture of config files.el

You can use Opivity Switch Manager to download and save configs of all Nortel switches. There is a download demo in th Nortelnetworks website.
