Howdy,

I've been playing with this for ages now and not getting anywhere, wondering if someone mght be able to help, please.

I'm trying to get a Windows 98 computer to automatically login, but with a proper username and password (not just bypass the logon) so I can access network resources.

I have added the following to the registry but no joy :

Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Winlogon]
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"
"DefaultUserName"="test"
"DefaultPassword"="test"

I have also tried playing with the autologon entry [.../Network\Real mode Net]
setting it to 0, 1 and deleting it altogether

None of the above is working

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Have you tried using TweakUI from microsoft to do this? It has a feature on it to enable auto logon for windows 98

I've used this before, and it worked, but haven't in a while. There is a MS powertoy called tweakui, which should be on a Win98 CD in one of the directories called powertoy, and I think it's under reskit.

Once you install tweakui, there is a tab called "network" and that tab will allow you to set it so that a particular user automatically logs in. I'm sure tweakui changes a registry setting to do this, but I've never tracked it to see which one it is.
