Hi,

We have set our server to logon automatically once it is restarted or shutdown, however since then, we have changed the admin password.

Has anyone got any ideas on how i save the new password, because at the moment, it is still picking up the old one and errors each time. Therefore the new password always has to be entered in manually.

Many thanks,

Peen

As far as I know that autologon to a server is not a default option, I use tweak ui (an addon) to make my server autologon when it boots, if you have the same go to control panel click on the tweak ui icon, go to logon and change it there, you can get tweak ui from here:
Its made by microsoft but unsupported.

I have just checked and tweak ui is not under the control panel or even installed on the server, so i'm not sure how it has been set up, but i woukd really like to know how i could change it.

Thanks

Look under this registry entry
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon

it should have all your autologon info

I think this might help, you can set autologon in the registry too:

Start Regedt32.exe and locate the following registry key:
[red] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon [/red]

change DefaultPassword to your new password that should be it

Thanks a lot for your help. I have changed the default password in regedit32 and will have to see what happens next time the server reboots. I'm sure it will be fine from now on.

Thanks a lot.
