I run BkUpEx v7.5 on a Companq 1500 and Novell 4.11.

The SCSI DAT drive has a 4 slot autoloader which is partitoned as;
1.. Part A - Slots 1 & 2 : BackUp & Restore
2.. Part B - Slot 3 : Confidential Backup
3.. Part C - Slot 4 : Cleaning

There are two nightly scheduled jobs. One which backups our main servers, i.e. 4 Novell Servers, 1 NT4 & 1 Mac Web Server and goes to Part A. The other job backups the confidential material to Part B from a seperate Novell server. Both worked perfectly until recently.
Now job A causes a SCSI timeout error whenever it ejects tape one in Part A. I have had the autoloader replaced, the SCSI cables checked along with the Compaq mother board. All hardware checks out.

If divide job A into two seperate jobs and create four one slot partitions, and send job A1 to slot 1 and job A2 to slot 2 and job B to slot3 ALL jobs run fine with NO SCSI errors.

Anybody got any ideas ????

Your problem is memory related, due to the amount of data you are backing up. (So says my IT man :)

I would tend to agree with the memory and caching size issue. It sounds like to much data is trying to get through causing a bottleneck then time-out.
