Do you know of any third party apps that will autodial a number in Outlook. I'm looking to right click on my contacts number and press Dial and my IP Phone magically dial away.

No third party software needed. You do need to have a few things done though within your pc;

Install 'Cisco Telephony Service Provider' found in the 'Install Plugins' section of the CCM webpage. Accept most defaults, appropriate language, and no to multiple instances. Restart your machine after the install.

After reboot, goto control panel and the 'Phone and Modem Options' and here you will edit your default locations to accomodate your dialing needs. After that you will go into the Advanced tab.

In the Advanced tab, double click the 'ciscotsp001.tsp'. Go to the 'user' tab, and put in your info such as domain account and password.

goto the CTI manager tab and put in the appropriate IP address for the call manager, no back up option.

within the CCM user/global directory for each user make sure 'enable CTI application use' is checked. Make sure you devices are associated with your active directory name.

Open outlook, and go into your contacts, right click on a contact and select 'Call Contact'

Select dialing options, at the bottom, and at the bottom where it says 'Connect using line', hit the drop down arrow and you should see your phones line to select. If you do not, select H323. Select close and repeat the Dialing Options process to see your line.

Hope that helps!

thanks i did find a similar article online to do this but it doesnt appear to be working.

I do not seeing my lines, and i tried H323 also.

We are running CM6.1

Also in callmanager we do not have any active directory integration..is this required?

AD integration is not required and irrelevant in this case.
make sure you in the user page you check the Control CTI devices tab. Otherwise it will not work.
Also have you rebooted the pc after you installed and also configured the tsp? That is also a must.

i do not see my lines on the pull down. (all i see is H323) and i have tried using H323, doesnt work.

I have reset my ccmuser password to 12345 (something simple and this has been entered in on the "user" tab of the TSP configuration section.

Is there some sort of logging that can be set?

You made sure that the CTI checks in the user directory are checked? Also, I have found that if you set it to the H.323 save everything and close out, reboot, then open up outlook again, check to see if your line shows up then.

We just figured it out....

I had to add more Groups permissions under END USER (global directory for CM4 user), giving more rights did the trick..

"Standard CTI Allow All Devices" i think was the one.

Encaretr,
I did try all this and still my lines are not showing up...
Any Suggestion???

When your in the global directory page on CCM and after you enable CTI for the user you need to associate a device with that user. On the left side of the page you'll see device assocation, enter directory number from drop down list, then enter number you want to associate. Enter select devices and find the primary ext. you want to use. Reboot after you make your selection.

I tried that but it is still not showing up the lines.
Only it is showing h323 option.

I went through the document and i did step by step everything as instructed. I did same steps intitially.
Still cant see my lines
I am using outlook 2007 and call manager System version: 6.0.1.2000-3....

Im running 4.3 at the moment which is running on a windows environment, Do you have a smartnet contract on your Call Manager? if you do you may want to call Cisco for further assistance.

go to:

C:\Temp\CiscoTSP001Log

on th epc giving you issues. Make a test call and pot the most recent TSP log here so I can review it.

Another thing to try:

Make sure the Windows Telephone Service is running on the pc. If it is, stop and restart the service

Make sure the Windows fax service is stopped. if not, stop the service (I have seen it interfere)

Make sure the username is correct in callmanager

try these items...

Thanks Chinolee112 and MG2005
I am gettint the following error when i tried restarting the telephony service
Error 1053: The Service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
Also, fax service is stopped.
Unable to collect any TSP logs but have some from previous calls but i have no idea how to attach the same in these threads.......

m1n2md,
I had the same issue on my PC. There is an OS conflict that is not allowing the Telephony service to restart. Microsoft's website has several sugguestions, but none workd for me. I had to rely on reboots to restart the service.
