Hi,

I don't know what happened, but all my autocorrect entries have been lost. I had probably at least 800 in there, and they're all gone! That can't be possible?

I was trying to figure out how to transfer the list from computer to computer, and did a search for the .acl file. Well, I think I found it. All I did was see that there was a file, I did not open it, or send it anywhere, nothing. I clicked on it once, but that doesn't do anything, as I have to double-click a file to open it.

Anyway, I went back to typing a document, and started to use a shortcut - ie: ht. to expand out to hypertension, and noticed it was not working. Then of course, I tried some other entries I had made, and they're ALL gone!!

How is that possible? It's not, right? I can find my list somewheres, right, and reinstall it, right? Someone please tell me it is so..........I have spent months and months building up my autocorrect entries.............:(

Thanks,
Maisie

oh........I have version 2000 of microsoft word

Make sure that the language applied to your text is correct - UK English and US English, for example, use different acl files.

Enjoy,
Tony

Ok, what I don't understand is that in the language settings: all the Englishes are ticked on, and the French, and the Spanish. So, in essence, when I said all the Englishes are ticked on, I mean that English U.S., and English Canada are ticked on. There's a pic of what I mean uploaded.

Also, I am not sure which .acl file is the correct one that contains all my information? Someone told me that I could have corrupted it merely by trying to open it, when I should not have tried to.
Here's the file names:
MSO1033, modified 6.52 pm 4/01/09
MSO2057, modified 5:54 pm 4/01/09

You cannot corrupt a file merely by trying to open it. .acl files can be opened in any text editor but unless you know what you are doing you should not be trying to edit them.

It's very hard to determine what is happening from what you say and show:

> all the Englishes are ticked on, and the French, and the Spanish

Your posted image shows only English (U.S.) and English (Canada) as being recently used.

The .acl files you name are for English (U.S.) (1033) and English (U.K.) (2057)

What language / locale do you normally use? What shows on your status bar, now? and usually?

You appear to be in Canada; do you not have an MSO3081.acl file? The basic English file is about 37K in size. If you have added 800 entries, the file containing them will be, perhaps, double that size. What sizes are the files you have? Also, perhaps, what folder are your files in?

Enjoy,
Tony

Ok, I got my shortcuts back. They were written in English (UK).

Thanks!
