I have a merlin messaging rel 2.5 that was installed 6 months ago . It was used for mail boxes on DID lines. Everything is working fine. Now the customer wants auto atten to answer all incoming lines. they have 3 T1's in the system.I belive pool 70 is being used for incoming lines. Trunks 845-867 is pool 70.I went into programming and added pool 70 to immediate call handling in group calling=ln/pools and entered pool 70 and reliable disc to yes.And the voice mail does not answer.console is set to auto atten in voice mail.what is wrong.

T1 "lines" do not ring in. It is an extension number based system, directing calls by matching the incoming digits to the extension number.

If incoming calls are directed to the main console by way of its extension number matching the DNIS of the main number, renumber the console to something else. Renumber an adjunct to the old console number. Put that adjunct into the Voice Mail Coverage Group, and make a mailbox that points to the Auto Attendant.

the incomming main lines ring in on ext-300. this is the main console. they come in on the sys acc buttons.can you tell me how to do as you instructed in your answer.as Iam a phone rookie.many thanks

Have you done much programming yet? This would be done by starting with system renumber, then single, using both extension and adjunct. Make the main extension an adjunct, and then give the console a new number. So.. you will be renumbering 300 to a number not currently in use that fits your numbering plan. This will make 300 available, so renumber an available adjunct to 300. Once you had the numbers right you would have make sure they are both in the calling group (which is under extensions, on the second page) and then test away...

This will require the attendant to have a new mailbox as well, since you are changing the console number. I also like to put a primary cover button on the console with the adjunct number so you can kindof keep an eye on your incoming call traffic.

If you go to avaya.com and download the Magix Feature Reference it will become your best friend for programming. It steps you through all of this. Post back and let us know if this works.
