Does anyone know how to get Windows 98SE to autoboot?

We need an application to run automatically as soon as power is applied to a PC. Without intervention of an operator.

here is my suggestion for your request... open Notepad and key in the keystrokes that you would normally use to open the application you want to open. Then save that file as a .txt file, then open your Autoexec.bat file and append it to point to that file.

What does your question mean? If win98 is installed on a PC, its automatically loaded when PC is powered up. If you have an application which needs to run, it obviously can't until windows has started. There are various ways of having an application run when windows starts up - depending what app is (eg, autoexec.bat, win.ini, startup folder, registry).

Sorry for the late response but I have been away...

My problem is that I have an application that I need to run automatically on power up of the machine. I added it to the startup but I have a login box that has to be responded to when the machine starts- even if its just to "cancel".

I cannot guarantee that there will be anyone there when this response is needed.

I hope this gives enough detail.

Thanks

Then you have to make it autologin won't you.
Use Tweakui do do that. If the solution is here, let us know it was helpful so others can benefit from it as too

Go on - give us a clue - where do I find or get this?

Sorry:: Linux I know - Windows I am a dummy.... does it show?
