I have Public Folder with several hundred email messages inside. A user has asked me to set up an auto response message for any new messages that arrive. I completed that task but now this same user has asked if there is a way to apply the auto response rule to messages that already exist.

Can this be done?

I am running Exchange 5.5 SP4 on NT Server SP6.

Yes, Go into Rules Wizard and Edit the Rule you can select to run this rule on e-mails that already exist.

When I right click on the Public folder and choose properties. I then click on the Administration Tab and click the Folder Assistant button. I highlight the rule previously created and click the Edit Rule button.

I do not see the rule option you mentioned.

I am using Outlook 2000.

Thanks
