Hello and good day to everyone, glad to be a part of this forum! I am going to stick around this site, GREAT INFORMATION!

My question is how do I insert text faster? I am bulding a plaque. Booooring yes I know but necessary. Anyone know how to set up "pre-determined" text fields that populate from an internal or external text? Right now I have to >duplicate layer>drag layer to new spot>enter in new text. It would be really neat if PS could populate from a file like web-site populate pages from other text files. If anyone knows a faster way to enter in this text then your are the PS GURU. Thanks again.
Steve

Sorry guys, overlap here!
Duncs, silly question but does the .ps file load into photoshop for you?
I'm testing in linux and Gimp.

Trojan.

Hi dude. On the Mac it can be dragged & dropped - and i guess it knows from the extension, and the existence of the %!PS, that it is a valid Postscript file. It could also be opened by:- Open / select file type of 'Generic EPS'

... hope this helps!

Very cool, im installing activeperl and every thing is working well. Very good idea. The .ps works as well!

You people are turning me into a damn programmer.

you have already installed Perl ... and you have run the script successfully!?

Kind Regards
Duncan

sorry - misunderstood

you are in the process of installing ... silly me!

glad you have the .PS importing O.K. - that is a good start. you can, obviously, add effects as the background is transparent

No not yet, im still trying to figure out this perl app. All I see is a bunch of HTML docs inside the install directory. What box do I need to click on to run the perl script?
Steve

No luck here Duncs.
You say this is Encapsulated Postscript.
What's the difference between ps and eps?
Would it take much to generate ps?

Trojan.

can you help Steve installing Perl?

it is actually just PS - not 'encapsulated'. i am not clever enough to explain the difference - sorry! i imagine ghostscript would see it fine!?

Kind Regards
Duncan

I tried "gs" and "evince" with your postscript as well as gimp and all three failed.
evince gave this:
** (evince:4440): CRITICAL **: ps_document_next_page: assertion `gs->busy != TRUE' failed

Trojan.

Trojan - do you have ghostscript installed?

Kind Regards
Duncan

it could be that the syntax i use is only happy with 'Preview' and 'Photoshop' on my Mac (OS X Panther)

i have done all sorts of work with Postscript - without FULLY understanding what i am doing - but i've managed to get some good results

it opens up into Photoshop easily - i will try to think of what we can do...

Kind Regards
Duncan

Your first postscript file worked happily in everything here.
I'm not sure what's wrong with this one.

Trojan.

Oh - i didn't know you had success previously!

Kind Regards
Duncan
