auto line selection

hey guys,

ip office 5.0.22 406v2

just wondering if i can set up automatic line selection for a couple of extensions? there are line apperances on the phone and they can press the "line 1" button to call out, but now they want to just pick up the phone and start to dial without pressing 1 of the 4 lines.

can this be done?

In the 1900 the used LA keys, 2000 is CA keys.

they have CA buttons and line apperance buttons. they want it to act like a key system. instead of picking a CA button, they want to pick the line 1 button (line apperance) first.

can this be done?

Whichever CA button or in your case "Line Appearance" button you want to be able to pick up first, make sure that that particular CA or line is programmed to the first button in the User/button programming tab.

I would tell them that they should buy a Partner system if they want that feature, IP office might be able to do it but it might break something in the system or maybe the next upgrade will break it to work. It is not designed to be a small system it is intended for medium size companies and like said before it might bite you in the A$$ when you need to upgrade to add features to he system and then they will be all over you because they have to rethink. rather have them rethink right away it is less painful.

If you want Auto line select like a Partner, Put the Line Appearances on teh phone in the order you want them, then put 2 call appearances.

When dialing short codes, it might be a pain because you will need to manually press hte intercom button, though.

i understand the this senerio as i wish the ip office would give the option of key or PBX type setup.

not to sure....but does the new IP OFFICE R6 partner solution address this?

Sometimes you need to try and drag people out of their caves kicking and screaming into the real world, that's how PABX's used to work but things move on and so should they, I for one am glad it does not work very well like that

Also, if you want automatic line selection just by picking up the handset then you are in luck, just ditch the line appearence keys completely and give them just appearence keys, that's how the system works out the box
