Auto generate PO# problem

Hello,

I'm having a strange trouble at Purchase Order module.

When I tried to generate PO# by clicking "#" button, it supposed to give me just a next available number such as 12345. However one month ago when I clicked same button to get an auto-generated PO#, and then I got "A1". From PO history, the number should be 2676 or higher number, but suddenly the setup was changed. I saw "Purchase Order Options" at Purchase Order\Setup and "A2" was described as next available order number. Of course, I confirmed nobody touched the setup. I changed the number to "2700" as a next available number at Purchase Order Options and placed an order normally at that moment.

After the incident, there were no problems for a while. But it happened today again. I knew how to fix this problem, so I did same way to fix that I did last time, but I want to know why it happens and I want this never happen.
So far, this happens only at PO, not SO. FYI, my module version is 4.05 w/ Win2k3 SP1.

Does anyone know what is the problem? how to solve this?

Thanks,

Restrict who can get into Purchase Order setup to just yourself and make sure no one knows your password and see if this corrects it. Someone might have been changing it.

Hi BigLouie,

Thanks for your message but I'm pretty confident none can access Purchase Order Setup at all except myself.
The solution you suggested was my previous one. I'm the only one can access Purchase Order Setup and I changed my password at that time. However, after one month, the things happened again...it seems like some glitches inside of PO module...

Thanks,

Are you doing a close on PO each month? Any chance that the set up causes the close to revert?

I had a similar problem with AR but on Batch numbers.
