I have a 4406 telephone that sits in a seperate freight lobby. Is it possible to program this phone to automatically dial the operator when taken off hook? Couldn't seem to find an answer any where. Thanks.
I've never tried to make a multi-line extension act as a hotline. The section devoted to the hotline function in the Feature Reference Guide should explain how to do it.
That's the route I....myself....would go (switch to a T/R port and install a call box). How about switching to a plain 4400 and leave a note near the phone instructing users to press "0"?
If you have a spare T/R & line port,
loop them together (two wire jumper/phone cord)
set up the T/R as a "hotphone" with first speed dial = 0
add the line to the 4406, set it as first in auto line select
Keep in mind, I don't think you can remove all system access buttons, so the phone can still be used to dial other extensions, you'll definitely want to enable outward restrict.
when you lift the handset, it'll activate the T/R hotphone, calling the operator.
