Greetings,

I am setting up an IPO with three analog trunks and embedded voice-mail. I am looking to facilitate a process that is being done by our merlin system that is--I present one number for people to call, when that number is busy it the PBX move to the next line and if that line is busy it moves to the third line, if that is busy it goes to voice-mail. This is how my current merlin PBX works.

I also want auto attendant to manage incoming calls.

I have auto attendant working to where it pick up without ringing the phones and process all the options correctly.

My problem is if someone calls and transfers to a line while and someone else calls that line it rings until the fist conversation is disconnected as soon as it's disconnected then Auto attendant pick up the second line.

I don't know how to set up IPO so that subsequent calls move to the next line and auto attendant picks up on the subsequent lines?

I am replacing a merlin system and this work on the merlin where if one line is busy the next call in line goes to the second, then third line.

On the IPO box I have all three lines set to group 0.

Sincerely,

Tim Turner

Get a well trained business partner.
The IPO is totally different then the Merlin.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Why not have your telco provider put all 3 of your lines in a hunt group?

The line hunting you describe was not performed by the Merlin system but by your dial tone provider.

Is it possible that on your Merlin system you had line appearance buttons for each line, but on the IPO you have Call Appearance buttons only so you think it is not hunting?

Look at your Main Hunt Group in the IPO and verify it is set to Collective Call Waiting. This will allow your answering position to receive as many calls as you have Call Appearance buttons.

Agreed. I am not aware of any telephone systems (including Merlin) that rolls calls from one line to another. This feature/functionality is provided by your telco provider.

The system can't perform that function as it isn't presenting the call, it is receiving it, only the line provider can change the line it rings in on, no system in the world can accomplish that. If you thought the merlin did it then you are mistaken it simply appeared that way :)

please take this not as an insult but it seems that the consensus of the posts above and also my opinion is that you are not a qualified phone guy otherwise you would know basics like the hunting is not done by the phone system and that means you should have someone with you to either train you and show you what needs to be done or taking a course (courses suck and are only theoretical knowledge that help but don't give you hands on experience)
Try to find an IPO tech to do the install for you and help him/her doing the install, that will give you enough knowledge to be dangerous for the next install you do or to make changes to your system here.
again I don't want to step on your toes here but rather than messing it all up and being without phones be save and get help.

Thanks for all who responds. Thanks also for pointing out that I am not a phone guy, as I never claimed to be one. I work for non-profit and all this work is volunteer. I am posting here to get this system up and running as well as take the time to "learn" this system for them.

Since the switching is done on the telco side my question then becomes why when the a "first" call comes into the system auto attendant picks up the line but subsequent calls the auto-attendant does not pick up?

Sincerely,

That will be because you have not pointed all 3 lines to the auto attendant :)

I did get the phone system up and working. I have some small bugs to work out--mostly just getting an understanding of how things work.
