Auto Attendant announcing Extensions

After hours there is an auto attendant (I assume) that will allow people who call in to press 1 for sales 2 for shipping or 3 for company directory. When they press three they can search the directory. Once they find who they are looking for the phone system will tell the caller the extension. Is there any way to stop the phone system from giving the extensions out? The extensions that we use are closely tied to the DID's and we don't really want to give out direct numbers.

If you are using option 3 for the directory it is a self recorded directory correct? You really should not have to do that. The company directory can be accessed through the # key. When the caller presses pound they can spell the first or last name of the person, then it directs them to that extension. It gets the matches for the directory out of the way the name is spelled in the mailbox. When you do it that way I don't believe it announces the extension it is going to. Actually it plays the recorded name from the persons mailbox, and then routes them accordingly. So if you try it that way your script would be 1 for sales 2 for shipping or press pound for the dial by name directory, etc. Hope that is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply, it seems that you are correct. It is playing the recorded information that the users record for the company directory.

This is what you get for assuming that the user has actually experienced the problem that they are reporting. :)
