Client is a TV station that holds telethons.
Client has 8 lines and sometimes only four operators.
(small station)
Client currently has AA set up for after hours on AA on/off
button which sends folks to menu with voicemail selections for different people at the station.
Client's phone, when AA isn't on, picks up call after 6 rings if unanswered and sends caller to general mailbox.
Client would like to have calls picked up during telethons and put on hold automatically after a certain amount of rings with a message that says something like "please hold until an operator is available to take your call", plus hold with music when this message isn't playing.
Are they asking too much?
If what they want to do isn't possible, what is a good alternative without losing the current status of AA.
Please spell out the programming!
Thanks in advance

What it sounds like you are in need of an ACD set up. Do they have that option on the system? If not, they will need to purchase one in order to get that type of programming

I can only find 1 reference to ACD in the manuals I have.
Which is:
Creating a ACD Queue on Meridian 1 PBX using a terminal connection.
If this requires a computer to program or find this feature than I do not have programming to do so.
I only program the systems using the telephone.
I have no other info in my manuals concerning ACD.
not evem what A, C, D, stands for.
Any suggestions.
I appreciate your response

David, you need to find out what kind of voicemail system you have. If it is a small 2 inch deep unit that when you open the front door, has a PCMCIA card sticking out from a slot, that means you do not have whats called a NAM voicemail.
If its a large unit that is shaped and sized exactly the same as the MICS 0X32, you have a NAM - and all nams were shipped (supposedly) with a very basic 10 seat ACD package called Minuet. (look for a floppy disk in a package with a green covered ring booklet) Its pretty easy to install and setup, and will do what you want. The booklet goes all through the installation and setup proceedure - and you will need to train the users (call answerers) how to log in and out of the queue. Post back if you cant find it, since it came free with NAM voicemails, no doubt someone on here has spare copies that didnt get used. (i'm sure i could scrounge up one if need be)
Good luck with that.

to canadianwolf,

thanks, the info you supplied is just what I needed.
The client doesn't have NAM, but are willing to look at it if the price is right.
Thanks to all,
GOAT

The basic ACD (Minuet) package that is given with the NAM still requires a certified tech to install. The reason I say that is because the company Cyntec who makes it will ask you. Yes the software is free yet thier is no reporting. No there is a separate system that you can add right to your phone system just like a station module. Call 1-888-533-8353 ask for Phil Camilleri ask him about part number NTPW0020 Cinphony II pkg w/ Norstar application modular & monitor pkg.
Tell him Steve in Phoenix said HI.
