I got this error message after trying to add a subscriber.
"Number of subscriber exceeds system limits"
How do I check the number of mailboxes used?

Check the "Cutomer Options" table. You will find the available number of mailboxes there.

I did a "Display system-parameters limit"

Does the "list total entries" 50000 under Administration limits show how many subscribers I can have total?

No It doesn't. Go to the main menu. Select the cutomer options. In that field you will see "Number Of Mailboxes

Ok this is what it's showing.

Messaging Application ON N/A
Number of Mailboxes Purchased 600 20000
voice_ports 20 20

So you have 600 total mailboxes available to use. If you need more it will have to be increased.

What's the 20000 number?

Is there a way to audit existing mailboxes besides the "list subscriber" command?

20000 is the maximum number of mailboxes/subscribers that the system is capable of having.
What do you mean by audit?
You can also "list extensions" to see them in order.

So according to this,

Messaging Application ON N/A
Number of Mailboxes Purchased 600 20000
voice_ports 20 20

600 are used and 20000 are available is this correct?

No....600 are purchased and you can pay Avaya to buy up to 19,400 licenses. Export your "list extension" to see what is in use.
