how do i set up audit to monitor basic users activities working on xp workstations e.g when they logged on, on which machine, what programs they accessed when they logged out etc from a windows 2003 server.

Well, you might want to take a look at SysTrack from Lakeside Software (
SysTrack monitors all user activity, from when the user logged in, what applications they used, which websites were visited, and log off times. Check it out if you get a chance...
