Hi:

I am useing Crystal Enterprise 10.

I would like to track the number of users who viewed/refreshed a particular crystal report. How is it possible. In the Audit table I am not getting that info.

Could someone help me in resolving this.

thanks in advance

Regards,
jchennuri.

Each report has a unique object id which can be used to write a report and pull any successful views/scheduled instances of that report.

I have been able to write some different Audit reports from the audit database - have a look at some of the "canned" audit reports that accompany and review how they were accomplished - which should give you a few ideas on how to proceed.

Cheers

Hi, Could you please let me know where to go find the 'canned' audit reports?

Thanks.

Hi Fan,

I believe you would have had to pay for them in your software package - check with your BO rep about what you have purchased and whether the audit reports were included.

cheers

Hi paulmarr, I got the 'canned' reports from BO support. Thanks!

Hi,

We would like to set up an audit database and turn on certain audit functions within crystal enterprise. We want to find out from other customers who also use CE Version 10.0 if they have been charged extra for this feature. In our dealings with the BO help desk, we have not been informed in the past that there is an extra charge to set this up. We know that in version 11.0 there are very huge features to audit report usage and those will be charged but we feel a little bit confused about why the sales rep would say now that we have to pay for the limited audit functionality.

Thanks.

There are pretty clear instructions in the administrator's guide on enabling the auditing function in CE10 - it comes with your enterprise license and there is no charge for it in CE10 or BOEXI unless you have BO do it for you.

There are sample audit reports also included (should be in the Samples folder) that may give you the data you're looking for, and you can modify them to get what you need.

Hope this helps

Hi,
Auditing in BOEXI R2 ( Professional Version ) is an extra cost option that is enforced by the License key - it can be added ad-hoc ( Like the Report Explorer) but you may want to upgrade to the 'Premium' version which includes it ( and other features)..

So what I'm hearing from the responses on here is that if I have been using CE10.0 for several years and I want to set up an audit database and track certain activities within my CE10.0 installation and follow the instructions in the manual, that there is no additional charge for this.

We have been quoted at $1,700 per named user for using this in CE 10.0. Does this sound wrong? I think the sales rep may be too new and trying to gouge us for more $.

As Administrator, from your CMC select "Servers", then select your CMS server, then you should have an "Audit" tab - select it- you should then see a checkbox for "Auditing is enabled", if it is already checked then the auditing data is being collected according to the selections in the "Audit When" section.

If "Auditing is enabled" is not selected, then it would need to be selected and the audit events would need to be also selected in the "Audit when" section

If the auditing options are not present, then the Audit database may need to be set up. It is normally set up during the initial setup, but you can cofigure it by going to the CCM, then stop the CMS service, select properties, then "Configuration", then specify the Audit DataBase. The tables, etc will be automatically created.

I would be talking to cusomer support rather than sales.
