Audigy Gamer and MSI neo-fis2r

Just purchased this board (topic) Installed, first problem is the nvram is not registering.. the board other than that performs outstandingly other than the fact that my audio card detects as "multimedia audio device." When I attempt to instell the current drivers from creative it tells me that there is no audigy hardware detected.

System specs.
MSI k8t800 neo-fis2r
athlon 64 3000+
1gig ocz performance
1 80gig sata(os)
1 250 gig ide
geforce 6800oc
3com 10/100 pci nic
and the audio card that won't work.

Everything worked fine other than the last board I ordered from newegg. Does the ac97 onboard cause compatibility issues with creative cards? Any ideas? I so far have tried several drivers, I have stripped the old and installed the new... nothing.. I was going to deal with the onbaord it being 5.1 and all but it does not work correctly after all, it is ac97.

What do you mean by "the nvram is not registering"?
If a message appears on the screen, what does it say?

Does the onboard audio work without the Creative sound card installed?
If not, then it may be disabled in BIOS(Integrated Peripherals -> Onboard PCI Controller -> AC'97 Audio).
If it's disabled, then enable it, and save the change.
If it's enabled in BIOS, then did you install its drivers from the CD that came with the MB?

Also, if you prefer to use the Creative sound card, then make sure the onboard audio is disabled in BIOS.

It runs the nvram check and the message is No nvram..

I do not want to use oneboard, I have attempted installing the audigy in all pci ports, with and without the onboard disabled, I attempted adjusting irqs, since two of my pci slots are bridged in the bios to a single irq for some reason.. none of these things work, I have attempted several drivers and the card is still not recognized as soundblaster hardware.

Evidently the 'No NVRAM' message is due to a buggy BIOS.
This 5th post in this link shows a site that has a BIOS upgrade. I believe it's version 1.92.

WRT the sound card problem, make sure that Yes is selected for 'Plug and Play Aware O/S' in BIOS.
If that does not help, the see if another sound card works.
If it does, then either yours is defective, or not compatible.

That link is to esupport for the record there is no bios upgrade there and through the process of trying to obtain that i was caught in about 3 different sales ploys. Still need to test the battery, otherwise I am sending back the motherboard.

Hi,

I have a very similar set up to yours, and exactly the same problem. I did everything you did, I was fobbed off by MSI - told the problem was creative, I did everything Creative suggested but no change in the problem. I gave up and used the on-board sound and it is fairly good. I could get the Audigy to work under XP 64 but not the surround sound or EAX.

I think the whole problem is the Creative install software, maybe if you could get it to install without checking you have the card you could get it to work. It's not like you can install the software, then put the card in.

Let me know what you did in the end.

May I know the exact product name of your soundcard?? and the exact product name of your mobo??
