Audible ring on multi line during handsfree call

We have a 200ICP. Most employees are set up with their primary line with their ext and a multi-line with the same extension. This gives the effect of having 2 lines for each user.
When I am on one of my lines using my handset and another call comes in, I can hear a quick 1 ring and the indicator light flashes on the multi-line (these are programmed on immediate ring). This is fine. The problem is that when on hands-free and the same thing occurs, the multi-line flashes but no ring can be heard. So...if you are on a handsfree call and you are not looking at your phone, you have no idea another call has come in. I guess there is some logic that it doesn't make sounds when on handsfree so as not to distract the other party. However, I still want to hear a quick ring on my multi-line when on handsfree. Any ideas? Tks.

Nope,

The speaker is engaged on the current call and will not be used for ringing.

You could remove the multicall key and implement Camp-on but that would be unlikely to satisfy the customer as that is soooo old school.

Sometimes the answer is no, it can't be done.

Camp-on tone is audible during a handsfree call, so write up a nice DCR to send campon tone stead of ring tone to the set that is in use. Unlike the 2K/3300 team some of the guys on the 200 design team are just competetively crackpots enough as to actually do this, if only to prove to the other side of the house that it can be done....like the little feature of differentiating specific ring tones up the keystrip. Asked for and even begged for in the 2K for years, the feat has been in the 200 for as long as I can recall. Then too look how long it took to get a real call park feat in the 3300. Clearly those two design teams do not talk to each other.

OK, I see the Camp-on features in COS and System Options...hate to ask, but what is DCR? I am ok with enabling features/options but does this mean I have to write a script or code?

A DCR is a design change request.

Meaning, if it aint there now, ask and you might receive.

My experiences with DCR's have not been as fruitful as MIMB's.

Mitel requires a monitary incentive. I believe you would have difficulty justifying the expense of R&D for the change you require.

Pretty much your only option however.

I take back my last post..Design System Request...do you mean to say that I should request then to send RING tone instead of Campon tone? Your response says the opposite. So, is this something that can be done without a DSR?

A Design Change Request is a request submitted to Mitel for them to modify their programming so that the system will operate differently.

What you want cannot be done with the system the way it is.

We actually did this for a client several (many actually) years ago, though it was a bit of jerry-rigging. What we did was wall-mount an old spare junker phone in the wiring closet, took it apart & bridged onto the speaker leads. Then ran that pair as the 2nd pair out to the user's desk where we connected an Orator loudspeaker to it. We disabled the off/on switch and put a small resistor in the low side of the volume pot (to prevent the user from fully muting it). The multicall appearance was of course programmed as an immediate ring-continuous appearance on the old junker set. It worked great for years, though today I would never do such a thing again because it creates support headaches for those who have to come behind you.

I stand corrected,

It cannot be done unless you have a crackpot technician with more time than sense. ;)

By crackpot technician do you mean a guy that sticks his foot in the toilet and pees down his leg so as not to wake up someone sleeping in the next stall?

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

Thanks all. I would think a lot of customers would ask for this. Seems like a Mitel should at least make this an option. I guess I will have to tell everyone to stare directly at their phone when using handsfree so they don't miss another call.

Miss another call???? Do you not have voicemail?

Just thought I would stir the pot!
