Does anyone know if the Attendant Console can go into night service without someone physically hitting the night service key on the console? We have a switchbd operator that says this is happening at least twice a day during normal working hours.....her normal routine is to put the console on night service when she leaves for the day at 4:30.

Check to make sure the headset cable is not going open.

Then as "oliver60 " suggested, make sure the handset jack is inserted fully. you need to give this a real firm push

And check the cable of the handset

Is it the same times everyday?

If it is, you may have SARS. (Scheduled Access Restrictions) which can place the switch on Night at certain times.

I have also seen this at a site I used to work at, where if the call was not answered with a certain amount of time the console was made busy. As there was only one console this put the system into night mode. Caused some very embarassing situations.

1.I checked handset connections...to the console and the cable to the handset itself. They seem secure but unplugged each and replugged. Also cleaned off the two prong connections.

2.nononortel...it is not happening at the same time each day and just started recently.

3.pdulfo...I don't know about the number of rings. Which LD will give me this information and what do I look for?

Thanks everyone.

OK, so now we've established it's not the handset & I'll assume you've eyeballed the consol & it definitely says NITE. In LD88

Is the level 2 pw the serial number of the switch?? If so, I guess I need to get that information from the site.

the level 2 password is one of the passwords available to log into the switch. it may or may not be the one you are using. try your normal switch logi password & see what happens

You may want to check your wiring. Maybe move to different feeder pairs. Also check your Meridian mail setting

Thanks everyone for the good information. The problem hasn't happened again, so maybe it fixed itself. Wish I knew more or could get some training!!

WELL IF IT COMES BACK YOU CAN TRY CHANGE THE TN'S FOR THE 2250 THAT WILL COST YOU NOTHING IF YOU HAVE SPARE TN'S. AFTER THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO INVEST IN A 2250 CONSOLE AND CHANGE THAT, THEN THE CABLE ITSELF.
IF NONE OF THE ABOVE WORK FIRE YOUR OPRERATOR BECAUSE SHE'S PUTTING INTO NIGHTS
